Aussies excel at home round of World Cup

It was another indoor event for this SX, held at the Adelaide showgrounds, but the track was still a decent length and certainly had enough technicality to it to keep everyone on their toes. A few changes needed to be made during practice to make it flow a bit better but it was riding pretty nicely by qualifying time.
I'm not sure on how many riders from Australia qualified for the top 64 final, but I think it was about 20, which shows the depth of the Australian field.
I had some tough heats but qualified easily. It took me a couple heats to get my nerves under control, I rode a crap 1st heat, my 2nd heat was better but i almost crashed on the 3rd straight while in the lead, but had it together by the 3rd heat. I won my quarter final, and was into the main event after a 2nd place in my semi final.
I was the 2nd fastest qualifier from the semi finals which meant I got 2nd lane choice so I took lane 2, I just needed to get a real solid 1st straight in. I certainly gave it my all, maybe a bit too much and got a little off balance half way down the ramp and couldn't give full gas. I still managed to hit the 1st turn in 3rd, half a bike behind Maris Strombergs and David Herman who rode a killer 1st straight and swooped around me from the outside, but between them I got a little stuck and got ridden up high in the 1st turn, and into Prokop where I hit him and almost went down, from there my race was pretty much done, I got swallowed up by the rest of the field as I had no momentum coming out of the 1st turn.
Herman ended up passing Strombergs on the last corner and took the win, so Congrats to him, he was riding really well, and put it together the best when it really counted! The best thing however was that 2 other Aussies made the main as well, Kamakazi rode a good lap in the final and took 3rd, and Luke Madill took 6th, so with the country points we gained from the 3 of us in the main, it is sure to make Australia's chance of having the full quota of 3 Olympic spots for the men almost a certainty now.
For now i'm still here in Adelaide, as we have our national BMX champs here this weekend, to be held on the same track as the SX - they are just changing the 1st straight, so it should be a great nationals!
There is a video of our final here on Youtube.
All for now.
