SA State Championships

My training has been proceeding really well for the past few weeks, and I'm feeling like I'm on track. I have been doing lots of repetitions of my competition dives, both individually and synchronised with both Sharleen my 3m synchro partner and Melissa my 10m synchro partner.
We are nearing the start of the 2008 competition season, and this Friday I will be off to Adelaide along with the rest of the AIS diving squad to compete at the South Australian State Championships, as that is where the National Championships will be held in January. As all diving pools are different, it is very important for us divers to get familiar to the diving pool and especially the diving boards before an important competition such as National Championships. Divers need to get use to the springboards as they can vary in bounciness, divers also need to familiarise themselves with the 10m platform, and finally divers need to be accustom to what they will see as they are in the air somersaulting and twisting before they dive into the water. This is incredibly important as divers ‘spot', for instance on a front 3 ½ somersaulting dive, the diver will spot the water three times and then kick out and stretch for the water. On back spinning dives the diver will spot the springboard or platform, so it's critical to become familiar with what your new ‘spot' is at the new pool.
In Adelaide I will be competing in the Women's 3m springboard event, the Women's 3m springboard synchronised event and the Women's 10m platform synchronised event, over Saturday and Sunday.
We arrive back to Brisbane Sunday evening, then it is back to training at 6am on Monday morning to start another 10 session training week - phew!
