BEIJING 2008

Olympic diving trials just days away...

On Monday I'm off to Hobart to compete in the Diving Olympic Trials. The trials start on Friday and go until Sunday, the competition is invite only with the best divers from Australia competing. I'm really looking forward to the trials, but I'm also nervous!

Training has been going well, with lots of fine tuning and working hard on making the synchronisation perfect. Lots of people have been asking if I'm on the Olympic team, as the swimmers have had their trials and assume that we have our competitions at the same time, which isn't the case.

I will have a few days of training before competition starts on Friday. My first competition is Friday morning and it is the 10m Synchronised event with Melissa Wu. The 10m platform in Hobart is narrow which can make doing synchronised diving a little bit uncomfortable. We were in Hobart a few weeks ago for a training camp so we could get used to the springboards and the platform, so I know what to expect and I feel pretty prepared. On the Friday afternoon I have the 3m Synchronised event with Sharleen Stratton.

Saturday is the Women's 3m springboard event, where Sharleen, Chantelle and I will be vying for two available spots.

After the Olympic Trials are over a team will be announced to compete in the Canadian Grand Prix meet and USA Grand Prix meet in May, where divers will finalise their spot on the Olympic team, by meeting requirements of points and placings. The team will be officially announced by the end of May.
