National Championships are on

The first hurdle in making the Australian Olympic diving team has arrived. National Championships are on this weekend in Adelaide. The best divers from all over the country will be competing to get a spot on the Shadow Olympic Team. Only members of the Shadow Olympic Squad will be able to compete at the Olympic Trials in April.
I will be flying to Adelaide on Tuesday with the rest of the AIS squad including my two synchro partners; Sharleen Stratton and Melissa Wu. I will have a few days of training, before competition starts on Friday and goes through to Sunday.
I will have a busy day on Friday, my first event is the Women's 3m Synchronised event with Sharleen Stratton, and then I get a small break before competing in the Women's 10m Synchronised event with Melissa Wu. It's a bit of a challenge to change from one event on the springboard to another event on the platform in such a short amount of time, but it should be fine.
On Saturday I have the Women's 3m Springboard event. This event involves preliminaries, semi finals and finals, and therefore takes a few hours to complete.
The goal for me is to make Olympic Shadow Squad and National Squad which is quite a challenge as you need a diving list of high degree of difficulty dives, you need to place 1st, 2nd or 3rd individually, for synchro events 1st or 2nd, and you need to score highly in prelims, semis and finals. My other goal is to make the Australian team for the Diving World Cup which is in Beijing in February at the new Water Cube, built for the Olympics.
