David Wansbrough: Kookaburras to pick themselves up for bronze

The Kookaburras have their bronze medal play-off against the Netherlands tonight and it will be a mental test for both sides. Being equal favourites for the gold, both teams came to win and are now trying to get motivated to play their best for third.

It is unrealistic to expect the Kookaburras to be at their best. They are devastated and it will take closer to two years than two days to get over their semi-final loss. However, they won't want to go home empty-handed so they'll have to take stock.

When we met the Dutch earlier, we drew 2-2 but seemed to have the better of the match. This will give us a boost tonight. We will have to watch penalty corners, because the Dutch have Taeke Taekema, the best penalty ‘flicker' in the tournament. If they get plenty of corners they're a chance in any game.

The gold medal clash between Germany and Spain should be a beauty. I'm leaning towards Spain after their win over Australia. They are first class with tactics and ready for Olympic gold. Whatever happens, penalty corners will play a huge part in the result. Scoring them and saving them will be integral.
