Was injured for much of 2002, but returned to form late in 2003.
She won the 2003 World Youth 100m hurdles title and later in the year became the youngest athlete ever selected for an Australian team for a World Championships. She ran in the 4x100m heats in Paris. Became the first athlete to win the 100m and 100m hurdles double in the history of the Australian Open Championships in March 2005.
Was distraught after crashing into the last hurdle during the 100m hurdles final at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. With a 'DSQ' registered against her name after touching the hurdle with her hand, she picked herself up off the track and finished the race but was visibly upset. She was comforted by teammate Fiona Cullen for several minutes, while the winner Brigitte Foster-Hylton went on to celebrate her win with a victory lap. "It didn't turn out the way I wanted it to, but that's life - that's what you get when you get to be a hurdler," McLellan said.
