  • Finished a very disappointing fourth in the 200m breaststroke at the 2008 Olympic trials, nearly three seconds slower than his American record.
  • Hansen did earn a trip to Beijing by winning the 100m breaststroke at the trials and will face Japanese rival Kosuke Kitajima in that event.
  • Hansen is the first American to simultaneously hold the 100m and 200m breaststroke world records since John Hencken in 1974.
