Female
Mackay, Queensland, Australia
Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia
Representing Australia at the 2001 World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.
Domestically, she had been known to power over her opponents in the second half of races, but it was a tactic that wasn't allowing her to make an impact in world events. So she worked on a new race plan where she gradually increased her speed throughout the race and unveiled it at the 2006 Australian National Championships in Brisbane where she lowered her personal best by almost two seconds. "I just wanted to try and find something that was going to get me quicker," she said. "This has definitely given me confidence."
At Australia's swimming trials for the 2004 Olympic Games she became the first woman since Anna McVann in 1984 to win the 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle treble. The performance qualified her for her first Olympic Games.
