Younger, bigger brother of Will Skelton signs with Chiefs

Waratahs monster lock Will Skelton has been a revelation for NSW this season, but his younger, bigger brother Cameron won't follow the same path after signing with New Zealand franchise the Chiefs.

While Will's 203cm, 137kg frame has wreaked havoc in Super Rugby, 19-year-old Cameron stands at 205cm and 145kg.

The Auckland-born lock recently signed a development contract with the Waikato club through to the end of next year.

Chiefs coach Dave Rennie and high performance manager Chris Tindall flew to Sydney to personally secure Skelton's signature after seeing him play for the Samoa Under-20 side in the recent Junior Rugby World Championship.

Skelton, a former Hills Sports High student, plays for the Sydney Uni colts side and was this year part of the Waratahs under-20 programme.

Waikato emerging players manager Kent Currie told Fairfax Media he was excited to have secured the developing talent of Skelton.

"We believe this signing will be exciting not only for the Waikato high performance programme but also for our community game and we look forward to helping Cameron develop into a future Waikato ITM Cup and Chiefs player," Currie said.
