Twitter's hopes high for Kookaburras

Australia's eyes have turned to the men's Olympic hockey team ahead of their first game on Monday against South Africa.

After the Hockeyroos lost their game against New Zealand, Australians are looking for a strong start from the Kookaburras and were tweeting them messages of good luck.

Queensland Blades player Jake Whetton tweeted: "Massive shout out to @Kookaburras in their first game at London 2012 Goodluck lads!!! #bringongameone #goingforgold #Kookas"

Melbourne hockey fan Craig Stewart tweeted: "to say I'm excited for #hockey2012 men to kick off would be an understatement! CMON @Kookaburras!"

All the messages were warmly received by the Kookaburras, who tweeted: "Love the positive predictions for tonight's match from all @Kookaburras fans. Send us your pics of fans dressed in green & gold #fanatics".

Kookaburra Matthew Swann tweeted: "Early start tomorrow in our first game in the Olympics. #cantwait #hopeicansleepwell".
