A virtuoso display from Patrick Anderson denied the Rollers gold in the wheelchair basketball final as the defending champions lost 64-58 to Canada.

Australia began the game well leading by a point after the first quarter and at half-time but the third quarter was when the game began to drift away from them and Canada went into the fourth quarter 46-42 up.

In all, Anderson scored 34 points, and also led the game with eight assists and ten rebounds.

Shaun Norris led the Rollers with 19 points, with Justin Eveson ably supporting with 16 points and eight rebounds.

The result is a measure of revenge for Canada, the 2000 and 2004 champions, who lost to the Rollers 72-60 in the Beijing final.

In the bronze medal match, the US beat Great Britain 61-46.
