Paralympian's ring stolen in home invasion

A Melbourne paralympian has been devastated after discovering her London Paralympics ring has been stolen from her home.

Basketballer Shelley Chaplin's Ashburton house was burgled some time between 10.30am and 5pm (AEDT) on Thursday, December 6, police say.

Offenders took the gold ring after forcing their way into the home through a back door.

They ransacked the house and made off with cash as well as the ring.

Chaplin, who won a bronze medal at the Beijing Games in 2008, is appealing for public help to try to get her ring back.
