Aussie Stingers down Russia 11-8

Australia's women's water polo team secured top spot in their group with a 11-8 triumph against Russia at the London Olympics on Friday.

The Australians were undefeated in their three preliminary group matches and progress into the quarter-finals of the tournament.

Defender Nicola Zagame scored four goals and captain Kate Gynther and Bronwen Knox eached netted two in Australia's victory against the previously unbeaten Russians.

Australia will play the loser of Friday night's match between Great Britain and Italy in their knockout quarter-final.
