SYDNEY, Feb 12 (Reuters) - Australia will host Bangladesh in three one-day internationals in the country's Northern Territory later this year, it was announced on Tuesday.
Cricket Australia (CA) said the three limited-overs matches would be played at Marrara Stadium in Darwin on Aug. 31, Sept. 3 and Sept. 6.
Australia normally only hosts international matches in its summer months but has begun playing matches in winter because of the warmer climate in Darwin.
CA chief executive James Sutherland said Australia were planning to play more regular matches in the tropical north after the Northern Territory government agreed to help fund the development of better facilities.
"Cricket Australia is committed to promoting Darwin on the international stage and also as an ideal training base for development squads in the 'off-season'," Sutherland said in a statement.
"The location and climate are ideal for matches during the Australian winter when playing cricket in the southern states is simply not considered."
