Cronulla's Ben Ross admits he has let his team down after being suspended for seven weeks last night by the NRL judiciary in Sydney.

The Sharks prop admitted to striking Melbourne's Cooper Cronk but had hoped for a ban of less than five weeks.

Ross says he was hoping the judiciary would accept his defence that he was trying to push Cronk over.

"I just want to say one thing - I'm disappointed with the outcome," he said.

"I probably let my club and my team down a lot with this and all I can say is I'm disappointed."

The Storm's Brett White was ousted for four weeks for striking Ross in retaliation.

He would have served three weeks with an early guilty plea but opted to front the judiciary to seek a downgrading.

Brisbane full-back Karmichael Hunt was successful in appealing against a grade three careless high tackle charge on the Roosters' Braith Anasta.

Hunt was charged after he broke Anasta's nose with his shoulder in last Friday night's game.

Two scientists gave evidence claiming it would have been impossible to react quickly enough to avoid making contact with Anasta after he slipped.

Hunt says he is relieved to be available for tomorrow night's Queensland derby against North Queensland at Lang Park.

"It's a huge relief," he said.

"I was pretty confident that we had a good case to put forward and I thought the boys ... provided the right evidence for them to see it that way, so I'm just looking forward to footy now."

Manly's Josh Perry also had a striking charge dismissed.</p>
