A boxer has been suspended after clearly taking a dive in a fight against a former NFL star.
Nicholas Capes was at a big size disadvantage as he took to the ring against former Minnesota Vikings and Atlanta Falcons defensive end Ray Edwards.
After circling the ring for 13 seconds, Capes flung himself dramatically to the ground when a punch was finally thrown in his general direction.
The Secretary of State of North Dakota, Al Jaeger, has now suspended the fighter who hails from Iowa.
"As we move ahead, we'll take appropriate action as the investigation review unfolds,'' Jaeger told The Forum.
Capes was drafted into the fight as a last minute replacement. Traditionally he fights as a cruiserweight and did not realise the scale of his task before stepping into the ring with the much bigger Edwards who fights as a heavyweight.
The events promoter, Cory Rapacz, admitted he felt guilty about the whole incident.
"I feel terrible for him," Rapacz told WDAY-TV.
"He got scared and looked for a way out."
It was the third fight of Edwards' career after six years playing American Football in the NFL.
He has won all three fights.

1 ReplyI can't understand why presumably "licenced" boxers train & live like animals to condition themselves to this way of life. Then throw fights, fail drug tests & accept bribes. NFL guy, this match ruined your career as well, the moment you saw his stat's, no bell's ringing, didn't look obese for his height at all in your opinion? The fact that boxing commision doesn't stop this nonsense discredits those who love it, and raises more questions than it answers.
Reply4 hours and 22 minutes till the mighty Black Caviar scorches the turf at Flemington. Time for a toohey beer me thinks ! Kindest regards Areel
1 Replydont you all know that areel and steve are the same person it is just two of the personality's that live in the same warped brain he is also cj and quite a few other of the other dimwit's who post on here and try to pretend he is someone else i really feel sorry for someone like him suffering from a multiple personality disorder as he does and being that dim that he regurgitates the same tired old lines all the time without the mental capacity to think of anything new i mean how his family must suffer with the shame of having to wipe the drool off his chin and change his dirty smelly nappie although how they tell the difference between the chin and the a rse is the real mystery as they both look and do the same thing which is dribble #$%$
