Gold Coast midfielder Harley Bennell has been arrested and twice charged for his involvement in a New Year's Eve brawl.
Bennell - who finished runner-up in the Suns' best-and-fairest count last season - was involved in the scuffle outside a nightclub in the Western Australian city Mandurah, and was one of several people arrested.
In a brief statement, the Gold Coast acknowledged Bennell's involvement in the fracas.
"As this is a police matter the club is not in a position to make further comment," the Suns' statement read.
It is the second instance of 'footballers behaving badly' in WA in recent times, with Collingwood midfielder Marley Williams charged with assault in Albany last week.

ReplyAFL & NRL players all a bunch of uneducated insecure testosterone-heads. Most of the fans are no better.
1 ReplyThese players are sub-human. Why would any caring person encourage their children to watch these people playing "sport?"
1 ReplyBennell's club Gold Coast should punnish him with a big fine and make him serve a 4-6 week suspension next season.
