Gold Coast Suns midfielder Harley Bennell has been arrested during New Year's Eve celebrations in Western Australia, reports News Ltd.

Bennell was taken into police custody in Mandurah at approximately 2am Tuesday morning after engaging in a series of physical altercations that erupted along the foreshore of the coastal city.

The 20-year-old was reportedly charged with disorderly conduct and filed bail later on New Year's Day.

Bennell is poised to play his third season with the Suns after debuting with the new franchise as a teenager.

Since then he has emerged as a key member of the team, and last season starred with 25 goals.

AFL & NRL players all a bunch of uneducated insecure testosterone-heads. So are most of the fans.

sorry but I love the worlds best football game ..... AFL in case anyone was wondering....... but I just cant cop these fools who drink or go out a rebel raise........... I know thousands of non sport idiots get drunk every night and get bashed or have fights........ but I have read over the past 2 or 3 weeks of so many AFL players getting into bother and it cant be called anything but bringing the game in disrepute..... they must be dealt with harshly and swiftly..... one year ban and no one is allowed to take their contract up..... (OTHER CLUBS - I MEAN) .. if this happened for the next 10 guys.... I think sooner rather than later it will sink in.......Most of them think they are above the law - and in most cases they are..............
