Bravest cameraman in the world?

Jon Kirkham came off his bike in a shocking crash after just eight laps of the first British Superbike race at Oulton Park on Bank Holiday Monday.

Sliding at high speed, Kirkham hurtled along the ground behind his bike towards the tyre wall.

The race was red-flagged and Kirkham was knocked out — but fortunately the Samsung Honda rider recovered and suffered injuries no more serious than concussion and bumps and bruises.

"I can't really remember too much about the crash, to be honest," admitted Kirkham.

"I have seen the video footage and all I can remember was just before I got a bit of a slide on at the.

"I think maybe I was just pushing too hard or something, as it is unlike me to crash in a race.

"I have concussion and ache a bit but this circuit is so physical that I feel like that after a good few sessions anyway!"

But one person who is unlikely to forget any aspect of the crash is the cameraman who watched Kirkham and his bike come full-steam towards him.

Dave Smith was dubbed 'Dangerous Dave' by the Eurosport team at the race after he filmed the crash without flinching, despite the bike heading straight towards his lens and flipping over the top of him.

You can admire the work on one of the replays of the crash.
