LONDON, July 18 (Reuters) - Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association (FA) for his part in a scuffle after United's defeat at Chelsea in April.

Chelsea groundsman Sam Bethell has also been charged with improper conduct by the FA over the incident which occurred as United's players were warming down on the pitch after the match.

Bethell faces a further charge of using abusive language aggravated by reference to nationality/race.

The FA said on its website (www.thefa.com) that the charges were the result of an investigation conducted using video evidence, CCCTV footage and witness statements.

A post-match incident involving Evra's team mate Rio Ferdinand and a Chelsea steward was also investigated but no charges were issued.
