New Zealand golfers Josh Geary and Ben Campbell have fallen well short of their target at the second stage of the European Tour qualifying event in Spain.
Needing to finish among the top 17 and ties at their respective tournaments to reach the final stage of qualifying later this month, the Kiwi pair both struggled through four rounds.
Geary finished four-over at the Las Colinas course in Alicante after shooting rounds of 74, 74, 69 and 71 which was 20 shots behind Dutch winner Tim Sluiter and eight strokes shy of the advancing to the next stage.
Campbell's first foray into the professional ranks was dominated by a disastrous 13-over 84 in his first round at the El Valle course in Murcia. The former world No.6-ranked amateur recovered with rounds of 73, 73 and 70 but he was never in contention and finished 73rd in the 76-strong field.Michael Campbell is the only New Zealand golfer qualified to contest next year's European Tour.
