Smail earns sizeable payday in Japan

New Zealand golfer David Smail has boosted his bank account considerably with an 11th placing on the Japan Tour.

Smail secured easily his best result of 2012 despite falling two places on the final day of the Sun Chlorella Classic in Otaru when shooting an even-par 72.

He finished the tournament on seven-under, eight shots behind Australian winner Brendan Jones to snare prizemoney of $NZ52,000.
