Top End push for A-League match

The Northern Territory Government says it's prepared to dangle a financial carrot in front of the Football Federation of Australia to secure A-League games in Darwin.

The Territory Sports Minister Matthew Bonson will meet federation officials next week to sell the idea of an annual Top End clash.

Mr Bonson says the praise the Darwin Football Stadium received from both Melbourne Victory and Perth Glory after their pre-season game last year has boosted the Territory's chances.

"We're more than open to having them come here and for a reasonable price we'll commit. We've built a facility and I don't think that anyone can argue that Darwin's (not) ready for an A-league game."
