Arsenals Podolski confident of landing World Cup spot

Lukas Podolski is supremely confident that he will be included in Germanys final squad for this summers World Cup.

The 28-year old Arsenal striker is in Joachim Lows die Mannschaft roster for Wednesday nights friendly with Chile in Stuttgart and is intent on kicking on and forcing his way into the 23-man playing group for Brazil 2014.

Podolski has not played for Germany since the August 2013 meeting with Paraguay but believes his 111 caps and 46 international goals will be enough to see him present for the Group G encounters with Portugal, Ghana and the USA.

"I never have and never will have fear," he said at a press conference in Stuttgart.

"I think I've been through a lot and played many international games and tournaments to have the self-confidence to say I will be there.

"After my long (hamstring) injury, I'm back in form and I've spoken with my club and national team coaches and I'm happy with the way I'm playing.

"I will keep my foot down in training, but I have no fear."

Of the Chile meeting, Podolski said it was important for Germany to put in a good performance as the players will not be meeting up again until May.

"We've got the World Cup on the horizon and I think it would be wrong just to say everything's fine and dandy," Podolski added.

"It would be negligent if we all go home after this game thinking we're all fine and set. We all want to be involved and will do all we can to go into the World Cup in fine fettle."
