German midfielder Holtby in proposed Tottenham move

Tottenham have confirmed the signing of FC Schalke 04 midfielder Lewis Holtby on a pre-contract deal, reports the official Bundesliga web site.

The news comes a week after the German international failed to agree terms on a new deal in Gelsenkirchen, where his current deal is set to expire in the summer.

Holtby, who was born in Germany to an English father, is expected to have a medical in London within the next few days before returning to Germany to complete the 2012/13 season with the Royal Blues.
