Chelsea names squad as Champions League defence begins

Chelsea have named their 22-man squad for this season's Champions League campaign.

The reigning European champions have been drawn in Group E alongside Shakhtar Donetsk, Juventus and Nordsjaelland with their first fixture against the Italians on September 19.

Notable omissions from Roberto Di Matteo's roster include Florent Malouda, Michael Essien (who has been loaned to Real Madrid) and goalkeeper Hilario.
