Bayern Munich upbeat over deal for Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javi Martinez

Bayern Munich are waiting for developments over their pursuit of Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javi Martinez.

Numerous bids are now believed to have been lodged and Bayern's sporting director Mattias Sammer admits the success of their latest approach now rests in the hands of Bilbao.

"I can say that it depends on Bilbao and that we can only react to what they do," he said.

"The transfer is not done.

"There is nothing new. Like me, they (Bilbao) will have read the same things and will have to take all of that in and then see what happens."
