Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has said he would have no concerns starting the new Premier League season with his current squad, reports BBC Sport.

"Whether we'll get the guys we want in time for the season, I don't know," Pardew told BBC Newcastle.

"I'm relaxed as these guys did a great job last year and I'd have no problem picking from the group we have now."

The Magpies qualified for the Europa League last term with much the same squad that is currently available to Pardew.

"Obviously I want to strengthen, but patience is the key," Pardew added.

"I'm out of it now really, I've made my selections of who we think will take the team forward.

"Now it's about Lee [Charnley - club secretary] and Derek [Llambias - managing director] trying to get a deal that works for us and for the club who have the player.

"I've left it to them and now we'll wait."
