Ex-Blackburn, West Ham skipper Neill not on Western Sydney radar

Western Sydney Wanders head coach Tony Popovic says the club is not after Socceroos captain Lucas Neill.

The new A-League outfit has been linked with an off-season move for the former Millwall, Blackburn Rovers, West Ham United, Everton and Galatasaray defender following his release from UAE club Al Jazira but Popovic has rubbished those claims.

"I haven't had any discussions about Lucas at all," Popovic told reporters.

"Obviously we're speaking to players daily.

"It's on course for us. I've said all along that come the first game we'll have a squad that's ready to play."
