Manchester United have dismissed claims from Dave Whelan that Sir Alex Ferguson will retire at the end of next season.

Whelan believes next season will be Ferguson's last in charge of Manchester United.

But spokesperson for United told the London Evening Standard: "We have nothing to say regarding the comments made my Dave Whelan.

"However, at the start of the [2011-12] season the manager did say that he would carry on for another three years at least as long as his health was good."
