Sam Nyamweya castigates move to oust Musonye at Cecafa

Former Football Kenya Federation President Sam Nyamweya has termed as 'unconstitutional' planned move by region federations to replace Cecafa Secretary Nicholas Musonye.

Goal understands that Kenyan FA is among the federations behind the planned removal of Musonye from his office with FKF CEO Robert Muthomi being fronted as the replacement, according to reports which emanated from a ‘secret’ meeting held by a number of federation bosses on Wednesday in Uganda.

Speaking to Goal in this line, Nyamweya has sensed malice in the decision explaining that whereas Musonye might have not worked to the federation’s expectations, his removal from office should follow a due process.

"It is very unprofessional for federations to purport to forcefully remove Musonye from office whereas Cecafa have a constitution that should be followed. The move is bad for football in the region and we condemn it with the strongest terms possible."

"Those fighting to kick out Musonye should instead follow Cecafa constitution. That is what they should use. But using force under a secretary general who has done a lot for the region is very unacceptable and should not be taken lightly.''

Goal understands that the CEO position at FKF will be advertised soon for formalities with Local Organizing Committee director for Chan 2018 tournament Herbart Mwachiro being a favourite.
