WELLINGTON, July 4 (Reuters) - Former England all-rounder Dermot Reeve has been named coach of New Zealand first-class side Central Districts, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said on Friday.
The 45-year-old Reeve moved to New Zealand after admitting publicly to cocaine addiction in 2005. He said he had conducted a television commentary on a test match while under the influence of the drug.
Reeve, who played 29 one-day internationals and three tests, was a successful captain of English county Warwickshire in the 1990s.
"We are excited about having a coach of the experience and standard of Dermot join the Central Stags," Central Districts chief executive Blair Furlong said in a statement.
"It is a fantastic opportunity for the Stags and our up and coming players to be exposed to someone of his Dermot's ability." Reeve, who was director of cricket at English county Somerset from 1997-2001, will be contracted directly to NZC.
