Cameron White connected leather with willow at the right time as Bangalore beat Adam Gilchrist's Deccan Chargers in the Indian Premier League's bottom-of-the-table battle overnight.
Gilchrist (46, 37 balls) and Herschelle Gibbs (47, 34 balls) had laid a rapid-fire platform for the Chargers by adding 101 for the first wicket in Hyderabad.
However, the rest of the innings fell away to an even Bangalore bowling effort and the final total of 165 all out was swallowed up by Anil Kumble's team with an over and five wickets to spare.
White (31no, 23 balls) was important to the win, but took a back seat to Balachandra Akhil towards the end, the homegrown allrounder creaming 27 from seven balls including two fours and three sixes to bring a rapid end to the contest.
In the night's other game, David Hussey's Kolkata Nightriders signed off from the competition with a three wicket victory over the semi-final bound King's XI Punjab at Eden Gardens.
Hussey has been a star for Kolkata but on this occasion it was captain Sourav Ganguly who decided the match by clouting 86 from 53 balls to fuel a successful chase of Punjab's 6-174, which might have been more without the staunch bowling of man of the match Umar Gul (4-23).
There was however another useful contribution of 40 in 31 balls from Australian opener Shaun Marsh, followed up by Kumar Sangakkara's typically classy 64.
