With Michael Clarke, Shane Watson and Brad Haddin departing, which batsmen will we see don the baggy green in the near future?
2/13
Ed Cowan
At the age of 33, Cowan would seemingly be at odds for a Test recall. He's played 18 Test matches at the underwhelming average of 31.28, but his experience could be vital for a rebuilding team. The left-hander has a career first-class average of 40.59, including 47.94 last summer.
3/13
Usman Khawaja
Touted as a future star, Khawaja's international career has been a bit of a flop so far, averaging 25.13 in nine Tests. But the new Queensland skipper has been rejuvinated by his move north, and his Sheffield Shield runs can't be ignored (he has the most of any current player).
4/13
Peter Handscomb
The Victorian notched three Sheffield Shield centuries last season at age 25, and also bowls some handy leg spin. His career Sheffield Shield average is 35.31, compared to 53.91 in 2014/15.
5/13
Glenn Maxwell
The jury is still out about whether of not Maxwell is a Test cricketer. But no one ever thought David Warner would don the baggy green. His three career Test matches have been sub-par, but a Sheffield Shield average over 40 suggests he should be given another chance.
6/13
Cameron Bancroft
The 22-year-old from WA complied 896 runs in the last Shield season, averaging 47.15 thanks to three centuries and three fifties. He also smashed 150 for Australia A on the recent tour of India and is sure to feature in Australia's Test side soon.
7/13
Nic Maddinson
The 23-year-old from NSW averaged 53.66 last Sheffield Shield season and is widely regarded as a future Test star.
8/13
Jordan Silk
Silk burst onto the scene when he averaged 57.83 in the 2012/13 Shield season, but has fallen away in recent years.
9/13
Joe Burns
Burns averaged 36.50 in the two Tests he played against India last summer, but was overlooked for the Ashes. However his two centuries and four fifties in the 2014/15 Shield season should see him given an opportunity to be David Warner's long-term opening partner.
10/13
Jake Doran
There are calls to blood the 18-year-old in the fifth Test at the Oval, given he's in England for the under 19 Ashes.
11/13
Alex Doolan
At 29, Doolan will still be in selectors' thoughts after unluckily being dropped during last year's UAE series against Pakistan. His 89 against South Africa in 2014 shows his ability to succeed at Test level.
12/13
Chris Lynn
The 25-year-old Queenslander scored 250 against Victoria on the way to averaging 62.71 in the 2014/15 Shield season (only five games however). But at this stage of his career, he's regarded more as a limited overs specialist.
13/13
Aaron Finch
After cementing his place at the top of Australia's ODI order, Finch would not look out of place in the Test arena.
