Well it looks like there will be many changes to the Aussie side. Will MJ get brought back? Will north open or will hughes get the gig? Will Smith get the nodd? Will Hilfy be asked to step up?

Thoughts please.

Perth will be a different story. The Aussie fast bowlers may have greater success than thus far in the series.

The reports from the Aus camp are that MJ is now looking quite good. Cooley has his arm ina better position, he is bowling with more pace and getting some swing - begs the question, why did it take until now?

I'd love to see:
Hughes (MUST be brought back, he's a genuine talent)
S.Marsh (home ground, av 85 for the season)
Ponting (the last of the greats from a great era)
Watson (our best bat in the most crucial spot)
Clarke (a much better 5 than 4)
Hussey (a man for a crisis and a man to capitalise on a start - the perfect 6)
Haddin (can't keep, but the best 7 in world cricket)
Smith (can't bowl worse than X, but will improve the batting and fielding)
Johnson (had the kick in the pants, now to have a crack on hios fave pitch)
Harris (best of a poor bunch in Adelaide)
Hilfenhaus (perfect bowler to go into the doctor)

wel the old site has been hauled to the trash now so I'll continue by mentioning what I'd think would be a good side for the 2013 ashes:

Watson (32)
Hughes (25)
Khawaja (26)
Clarke (32)
S.Marsh/Ferguson (30)
Smith (24)
Paine (27)
Johnson (32)
Got no idea about the spinner
Siddle (29)
Hilfenhaus (30)

Typical, Hughes goes and gets himself out for 4 against SA - just when a good score would've cemented his place for Perth. He'll probably get the gig anyway, but it would be nice for him to go into the game with some reasonable batting under his belt.

Let's see how Usman goes - we've already seen Ferguson struggle.

Hauritz also got 0/44 off 13 overs nye..

All the players touted to crack the Aussie side keep letting themselves down..

Jaques wants it - cracking the ball everywhere at the moment. Don't know if they'll go back to him, even though he has had a pretty good season so far.

Khawaja should have been in from the beginning, and MJ left out from the beginning.

Ponting wants North to stay in the side because he has the POTENTIAL to be a very successful international player.

Jaques has been ordinary nye, I think he's averaging less than 30.

If they're selecting on form, it's Shaun Marsh.  There are no other candidates.

The Australian bowling needs to be adressed. They were a million miles away from taking 20 wickets in this test, and this was after the bowling line-up was already revamped after the first test. I think the selectors got themeselves into a real mess. What options do they have now? Bring back Johnsson and Hauritz? This would be an amazingly embarassing U-turn which they would n't have to perform if they had stuck with Hauritz in Brisbane and Johnsson for this test.

Anyways. Going back (to Johnsson) is just that. Going backwards, and I see no justification in that. What's the deal with HIlfenhaus? Was he dropped or was he injured? Anyways. Doherty has to go, which would pave the way for either Smith or Krezja (remember that guy who DIDN'T bowl THAT bad actually but was dropped?).

So all in all, a tenner says that Smith and Hughes will come in for Doherty and Katich. The rest will simply have to get their act together. Knee-jerk reactions backfire more often than they are productive.

Forgot about Krezja....wouldn't be a bad selection for Perth but the selectors won't pick him. Hilfy was rested I think, after a marathon GABBA bowling effort. I'll say it now and I'll say it till he gets dropped, North must go, his inconsistency is costing us big time! And he's 30 so there's no future in him. Happy to bring back Johnson if he has sorted himself out, which he apparently has according to an article someone posted here earlier.

Marcus North is as useless as these new boards - drop him and drop these.
