Haydos, and getting back on the right foot

I just wanna say a few words about Haydos (Matthew Hayden).

There has been a lot said about him in the press recently, and I want to set the record straight.

I still think he is a great leader, and he can offer a lot more Australia. - and I hope that he will go through to the Ashes series. He is a champion player and a great bloke

Obviously playing on Boxing Day was really painful – but I had to do it.

I will go into surgery on (Saturday, January 3) and we are basically looking at least 6-8 weeks.

It is an opportunity for me to give the foot a good clean out and get rid of all the muck.

I am definitely looking to be back for the Ashes Series, and I hope to be, but that is not to say that I will not be back sooner.

I always try to make a positive out of a negative, and I think it will give my body the opportunity to rest.

I haven’t really felt strong since the Giardia infection –it will give me the chance to get fit and get back to my best.

I am looking forward to getting into the gym and putting the weight back on.

And then see how I go when I am back at 100 per cent.

Hey Bing.. well said about Matty, i think people need to give him a break. Matty is a very
talented guy that needs to be given a chance to comeback to play the way we know he can.
I think alot of people just give up on players when they dont perform that way the supporters
would like them to perform and i think its wrong. Brett i hope the operation goes well and i
cant wait to see you back at your best.. i will miss you not playing mate your a champ.

No body does not believe he has talent but how many chances do you have to get, it appears the only way not to get dropped from the Aussie Cricket team is to get selected as other than getting injured you are there for life. I can remember the selectors dropping Mark Taylor when he was captain through lack of form but not poor Maddy, put yourself in the shoes of those young guns making runs, they must be asking themselves, "what the hell do we have to do to get into the side", Its TI

good point matt has a great cricket brain an as we are outside the team it hard 2 tell how much of an offfield leadership role he has but is his place still at the top of the order maybe it better for rogers or the young nsw opener hughes to come in and have matt stay close to the team to help guide them in he dosnt have to play to have influence
