Here's hoping for a Test spot

I can only ever really focus on the cricket that's in front of me and for now that's just Twenty20 and one-day cricket.

I'm happy with the way I've been playing. The ball's been coming out very well in England, at the Champions Trophy in South Africa and now the Champion's League here in India.

Fingers crossed I've done enough to sneak back in to the Test team for the West Indies series.

The Twenty20 Champions League has been a very good experience for me. I'm enjoying playng with the New South Wales team.

I'm getting to finally spend some time on the field with a lot of young guys I haven't had the chance to play with before.

It's a young squad and I'm getting to know the new guys. There's a couple of 20-year-olds in India that have breathed some enthusiasm into the squad.

On paper, we've got seven internationals, and I have to admit we have a very strong side, however, Twenty20 is a very fickle game and a lot can happen in three-and-a-half hours.

For that reason it was a huge relief to get past Victoria and into the final.

We are going to have to re-focus for the final – because at that stage of a Twenty20 tournament it doesn't matter how many internationals you have – you have to get out there and do the business.

It's been a real bonus to play in the Champions League when I look ahead to the Indian series starting on October 25.

I've had the last three weeks over here bowling in Indian conditions and my preparation will be all the better for it.

India as always will be a tough team to beat at home. They'll bring a swag of international stars to the series but if you want to know who'll be our toughest competitor it will be hard to go past the great Sachin Tendulkar.

He is a player now entering his 20th year of international cricket – two decades at the top is an amazing achievement.

I'm looking forward to the challenge of playing against him again.

I've thoroughly enjoyed contributing another run of blogs on Yahoo!7 and I've also enjoyed all the responses you've had for me.

To anyone who's been a regular, and also to any newcomers on the blog, thanks for your support.

Until next time.

I'm afraid Australian cricket must come before personal ego and expectation. Brett, your a great guy and we all think you've done a good job, but reality says its time to move on. Maybe go back to the retail game, the next generation is upon us! Lets keep going forward and not looking back, however close the past might be.

Let's not forget that we just lost the "Ashes" with our next generation of bowlers! Brett deserves to be picked for the test team as he has shown he is still our #1 bowler.

Ashes was lost twice - once in 2005 when Glenn was injured and this time when Brett was out. Right now Brett is #1 in the world and any test match without Brett will be farce. I have gone through the agony of watching how a bad English side was plundering runs. Yes, time to move on. Lets say, welcome back Brett.
