Daunting series means alot
September 04, 2009

It was disappointing to have the two Twenty20 internationals washed out.
Our start with the ball in the first match, however, was very encouraging. Our brief outing at Old Trafford was the first step in moving on from the Ashes.
With seven one-dayers now in front of us, we, as a team need to keep moving forward and get a good start under our belts at the Oval.
I can't stress the importance of this series to us, especially with what the team's gone through in the past couple of months. We will definitely be pushing to be close to the top of our game even from ball one of the series.
The new guys in the side have shown good form already. Cameron White's blitz in the first Twenty20 was pretty amazing and I think he’ll carry the good form through the one-dayers. I'm also looking forward to Tim Paine getting in the action in the absence of Brad Haddin. Brad's obviously our first choice but Tim has really impressed me with what I've seen of him so far.
It's daunting to think we are about to play seven one-day matches in 18 days. They are pretty much back-to-back matches for us. It will be a matter of the bowling unit looking after themselves and each other so we can get through the heavy workload. It's interesting to have seven matches like this against the one side. What I predict will happen toward the end of the series is that we will get to know each other’s play very well and things will get tougher for it.
This is a totally new beginning for us and everyone is ready to go.
