Copping it from the crowds
August 05, 2009

The tight series so far seems to have gripped the English public as much as it did in 2005.
As the series progresses we’ve copped a bit of flak over here from the crowds but it's all been quite tongue-in-cheek. The Barmy Army has even been quite funny at times and I think they’ve added some real atmosphere.
They've been ripping off a few football chants and we were treated to a dose of, "stand up if you're one-nil up" at Edgbaston.
The crowd has been making a lot of noise all in the right spirit. They don't swear and don’t offend anyone too much with their jibes. It’s been very enjoyable to be around.
Our main focus for the last day at Edgbaston was to bat the day out. It was different for us because we never play to draw a Test match but obviously in this particular situation it was better to draw than lose being one-nil down.
A lot of credit needs to be given to Michael Clarke and Marcus North who played top quality innings making sure of the result. It was also great to see Shane Watson and Mike Hussey pitching earlier in the day to lay the platform for them.
As a squad we want to make sure we can set the tone with the ball early on at Headingley. It's something we have been working on and are looking to improve on. I don’t think we need any radical changes in mindset the next test will be all about us executing the plans we have in place.
The other area we'll be focussing on is consistency. There's no doubt we've played well in patches but never really strung together a full five days.
I've been bowling for the last six days straight and been feeling 100 per cent fit. At this point in time - fingers crossed - I have got my hand up for the fourth test at Headingley.
Headingley has probably got the quickest wicket in England. There’s always something for the bowlers and the ball tends to carry-through very well. I hope the test can provide a fair contest between bat and ball.
