Series momentum with us
July 15, 2009

As a team there was some disappointment we couldn't quite get over the line in the first Test in Cardiff. The guys had worked very hard for the whole match but couldn't grab that 20th wicket.
The last hour-and-half was a real highlight of the test and despite us not coming out of five days of cricket with a result we are still going to take away a lot of positives.
England took only six of our wickets while we took 19 of their's. The momentum is definitely with us.
Four of our guys put on centuries and so our batsmen are taking a lot out of the Test as well.
I think we need to be careful these days that we are not preparing wickets that are too flat. Everyone wants to see a Test match go into the fifth day but we need to be careful that things don't get too difficult for the bowlers.
Personally, I would have liked to have seen more grass on the wicket – but you'll have to take what I want with a grain of salt.
I think both sides have moved on from all the talk surrounding the first test and are well and truly focussed on the second test.
Phil Hughes for one was a sixteen-year-old watching the last Ashes in England while he was at school – now he's opening the batting for Australia in a series poised at nil-all as it moves to Lord’s, the home of cricket.
He was walking around wide-eyed yesterday taking in the sites of the long room and the media centre and the steps to the changing room.
It's my third Ashes trip and Ricky Ponting's fourth tour and we still have a sense of awe when we get to Lord's.
I don’t think the result in Cardiff will affect out team to much. I'm sure the selectors will have a look at the wicket before making final decisions but I can't see too many changes after everyone performed so well last game.
We would have loved to be here 1-0 up but that’s not the case and it's all still to play for.
On a personal note, the second Test was always going to be too rushed for me to be available for, so now its matter of me focussing on my rehab.
I am going to try and make myself available for the third test at Edgbaston.
