'You genius!': Stokes lauded for acrobatic save

Rising Pune Supergiants allrounder Ben Stokes has saved a six with an incredible catch, dive and throw but he says he should've held it.

The Supergiants were defending their 8-161 total well against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, who required 39 off 15 to win the Indian Premier League clash.

But when Stuart Binny connected with a massive heave off the bowling of Shardul Thakur it looked like Bangalore might be back in it.

Instead Stokes pulled off a stunning catch on one leg - until the ball slipped and forced him over the boundary.

With both arms between his legs, Stokes pushed the ball towards teammate Dan Christian and the fielding restricted the Royal Challengers to a single.

"Ben Stokes, you genius! That's a single after all that commotion. Have a look at this. Look at the match awareness. That's unbelievable," screamed Brett Lee in commentary.

"He's not going to get 10 out of 10 for the dive or the poise," added Danny Morrison.

While the Supergiants went on to win by 27 runs, Stokes laughed as he explained how he didn't hold on.

"To be honest I'd actually dropped it, which made me fall over again and made me lose my balance," he said.

"I managed to look up and see Dan but there was no way of flicking it back to him so I just thought I just had to try and save six.

"I probably should've backed myself to catch that but it just slipped out of my hands in the end."
