Australian equestrian rider Shane Rose doesn't want to sound ungrateful for the silver Olympic medal he won in Beijing four years ago.
Australia's teams eventing silver medal is special to Rose - but his looming London Games is about personal redemption.
"The silver medal was amazing," said Rose, part of a five-strong eventing team ratified on Tuesday by the Australian Olympic Committee.
"Personally though, I only finished 14th and I was hoping to be in the top few."
Rose is joined on the eventing team by stalwart Andrew Hoy, who will compete at his seventh Olympics - a new national record.
Husband and wife Clayton and Lucinda Fredericks, and Olympic newcomer Chris Burton round out the team.
The Fredericks were Beijing teammates of Rose, who will ride his beloved nine-year-old Taurus in London.
"I'm really confident that this horse is in good shape to be competitive individually," he said.
"With the experience I had the last time, hopefully I can make things right this time."Position |
