Abby Wambach left with a bit of a black eye after taking a punch during Colombia match

U.S. striker Abby Wambach showed impressive self-control, focus and foresight after getting hit with what she described as a "sucker-punch" from Colombia's Lady Andrade during the first half of the U.S.'s 3-0 win on Saturday (gif of the incident here). Though Andrade maintains that she accidentally swung her arm and popped the taller Wambach square in the eye and the hit went unpunished, the U.S.'s second all-time leading goal scorer didn't risk getting herself and her team in trouble by retaliating with violence and instead scored her side's second goal in the 74th minute with that sore eye still causing her problems.

And the next morning Wambach woke up with a bit of a shiner, which she showed off like a badge of honor to her Twitter followers. She wrote:

So Wambach should be just fine and with a bit of natural war paint for the U.S.'s final group-stage match against North Korea on Tuesday before moving on to the quarterfinals.

UPDATE: FIFA announced that its disciplinary committee will review the punch, after the U.S. contacted the governing body about it.
