My bizarre injury

I've missed matches for last-minute injuries picked up on the training track, but never before at a set of traffic lights.
That's the bizarre scenario relating to my late withdrawal from last Saturday night's clash with the Saints.
I was heading home from training on the Friday afternoon and sitting minding my own business at a set of lights on Melville Road in Brunswick when I was rear-ended by a another driver.
There was enough damage done to my car that it had to be towed, it couldn't be driven.
I felt OK at the time, but about three or four hours later I started to experience some neck pain and a nasty headache.
My neck was still stiff and sore when I woke up the next morning so the club thought it best for me to give the Saints a miss to get myself right for Sunday's elimination final against Essendon.
Given that I've only recently made it back from five weeks on the sidelines with a calf injury, it's weird to miss because of a car accident.
But I'm just glad that the lady in the other car wasn't injured and that I wasn't hurt too badly either.
I actually got a nice card in the mail from her on Wednesday, thanking me for being understanding.
It's a small inconvenience to miss a game and to be without my wheels for a week but the main thing is that I'm feeling good and raring to tackle the Bombers on Sunday.
I did some light strides on Tuesday and went full bore at the club's main session on Thursday.
It was good to get back out there in the spring sunshine with a really good buzz among the group.
I'm hanging out for Sunday, I can't wait.
We've played some fantastic footy this season and we believe we've got more to offer our supporters who will be watching us in a home final for the first time in 10 years.
While we've worked hard for our 14-and-a-half wins we appreciate that when the ball's bounced on Sunday we'll be on a level footing with the Bombers.
Our previous clashes this season won't count for a lot - there are too many other variables involved.
We're going to have to bring our best footy to win ... and we will.

Replyglad u're ok for this match and that there was no serious damage to anyone....go get em this week..
Replywhiplash is a nasty injury that seems to be just pushed under the table, I also had a neck injury from a car accident and the headaches have never stopped, years of chiro, years of physio, years of massage, scans etc etc.. once its there, its there to stay,,, i just put up with it now and get my neck manipulated once a month for relief by the chiro, once the joints have been moved, they continue to give you trouble
ReplyIm glad you said "tackling" the bombers. Tackling pressure will be more important than any thing in these Finals... Tackle Harder than ever and move the ball forward, quickly. The goal posts aren't on the wings !
ReplyHope you get as close to Watson on Sunday as the lady in the car got to you. Pies next week!
