Collingwood is confident of regaining key forward Anthony Rocca from an ankle injury for Friday night's blockbuster against St Kilda at Telstra Dome but is resigned to being without No.1 ruckman Josh Fraser.
While the Pies are confident Fraser has not suffered a serious knee injury while playing for Victoria against The Dream Team in Saturday night's AFL Hall of Fame match, they are resigned to being without him at least for this week's clash against the Saints.
Fraser suffered the ruckman's curse - a posterior cruciate ligament injury while clashing knees at a centre bounce with Dean Cox - and initially it was thought he could miss up to six to eight weeks.
But while the Pies are still awaiting results of a scan on Fraser's knee, club spokesman Nick Hulett told Sportal the injury was at the lower level.
"We are hoping it might only be one to two weeks (out)," he said.
Meanwhile the Pies are confident Rocca will return this week.
"Having the week off (while the Vics played The Dream Team) will have done him the world of good," Hulett said of Rocca's ankle.
Rocca, who booted 13 goals in his first five matches this season including six against Fremantle in Round 1, has been a late withdrawal from the Pies' past two matches due to ankle soreness.
But the eighth-placed Pies are desperate to have him available for Friday night's clash where Collingwood will leapfrog the fifth-placed Saints on the ladder if it wins in front of what is expected to be a sell-out crowd.
