Brown searching for more opportunities to score

Brisbane Lions forward Jonathan Brown says he is confident the team's attack will look after itself if the midfield can get more balls into the forward line.

Brown booted six goals in the team's opening round defeat to West Coast last weekend.

Daniel Bradshaw kicked three majors in his first game back from a knee injury which sidelined him for 12 months.

"The ruckmen going forward looked good the other day and that might be something (coach) Leigh (Matthews) looks at throughout the season," Brown said.

"Mind you we only went inside forward 50 about 40 times and if we're going to win consistently, we're going to need to be heading inside 50 a lot more than that to give the forwards the opportunities to score goals."

The Lions are determined to make the most of their first home game of the season and a rare Friday night match in Brisbane when they host Collingwood tomorrow night.

Last season the Magpies won in Brisbane in round nine, but the Lions had a 93-point win when the teams met at the MCG in round 17.

Brown says the team wants to build on its effort against West Coast.

"Last week we showed some good signs but we didn't come away with the points," he said.

"We need to make sure we're more consistent over four quarters, fix up a few areas of our game and hopefully knock over the Pies.

"It's a big game, we haven't played a Friday night game up here for seven years so I think all the guys are just looking forward to the spectacle of Friday night footy."
