Power unsure on Jurrah

Port Adelaide say they have not given up on Liam Jurrah after the troubled forward was charged with a drink-driving offence.

Jurrah, 24, allegedly returned a breath test of 0.269 when he arrived at an Adelaide house where police were in attendance on Monday.

The former Melbourne player trained with the Power before December's rookie draft but was overlooked due to injury and behavioural concerns.

Jurrah was instead offered a paid position in the club's community department and a playing spot with the Port Adelaide Magpies in the SANFL, but has failed to show up for either.

"After making the decision not to select Liam in last month's pre-season and rookie drafts, the club has been working with the AFL to attempt to provide a pathway for Liam to return to the AFL system," the Power said in a statement on Thursday.

"During this period, the club has been waiting on a commitment from Liam in relation to training and playing with Port Adelaide in the SANFL and working in the club's community department.

"The club is disappointed with Liam's alleged driving offence but before making a decision on his future the club needs time to assess all the information regarding Liam's situation."

Jurrah was automatically disqualified from driving for 12 months and will be summonsed to appear in the Holden Hill Magistrates Court at a later date.

He is also due to face court in Alice Springs in March after he was charged with assault over an alleged machete attack in March last year.

Jurrah kicked 81 goals in 36 games for the Demons from 2009 until he walked away from the club at the end of last season.

Meanwhile, Port Adelaide forward Cameron Hitchcock has undergone surgery to heal inflammation of the tissue on the bottom of his foot.

Hitchcock, who was restricted to only two matches last season due to shoulder and hamstring problems, is expected to be available for the NAB Cup in February.

I am pondering on why port power are still pondering while jurrah ponders on why he still has a position if he wants it..........he faces court on assault with a machete - he drink drives - he lost his licence for 12 months - he has been given a job - he ran out on his ex club - he doesnt face for his new club port adelaide and his job.......lets see..........i cant give my opinion - its too close to call.............. maybe give him a 10 year contract - he doesnt have to train or play...... even if he goes to jail - port will wait......ponder ponder ponder....
