Richmond recruit Aaron Edwards has received a suspended sentence from the Tigers after he was arrested for public drunkenness.
Edwards, traded to the Tigers from North Melbourne at the end of the season, was detained by police in Melbourne about 12.30am on October 28, just days after joining the Tigers.
He spent about four hours behind bars before being released.
But the half-forward will be available for selection at his new club from Round 1 after Richmond's leadership group on Tuesday voted to let him off on the basis he was yet to be formally inducted into the football club.
Edwards, 28, is at his third AFL club after starting his career at West Coast in 2005.
He was suspended and fined by the Kangaroos in January 2009 after he was caught drink driving and speeding.
