Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley slams claims Dane Swan is a bad influence

Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley has taken a swipe at reports star onballer Dane Swan is a bad influence on the club's playing group.

A report from Fairfax today written by The Age columnist Caroline Wilson suggested Swan had been out on a number of "heavy nights" during the 2012 season.

Buckley, a defender of Swan in the past, turned to Twitter to vent his frustrations at the report.

"Still waiting for your call Caroline...not a quote in sight. Don't ever presume to speak on Collingwoods behalf," Buckley's Tweet read.

Wilson wrote the 2010 Brownlow Medallist should be sacked, and slammed his off-field behaviour.

The article has no quotes from any sources from Collingwood or the AFL, but Wilson claims officials that have spoken to Fairfax had refused to back the star.

"Swan is not the only player at Collingwood who has been a law unto himself during his end-of-season break but he has been a dreadful influence for some time," she wrote.

The report comes out just days after Magpies chief Gary Pert said that illicit drugs were a serious issue in sport and needed to be cleaned up.

He said that the times when players were away from their clubs, and the day-to-day regime of training and playing AFL footy, were the highest risk.

"There's volcanic behaviour ... there's definitely a concern that's been raised to all of the club CEOs and the AFL are very aware of this," Pert said.

"By the nature of the disciplines we put in place for the players ... at times, especially during the off-season or when we have breaks, (they) are deemed the highest-risk times.

"Having that sort of knowledge and being aware of it helps the clubs and helps the AFL deal with that."

An AFL forum involving the chiefs of all 18 clubs will be held to talk about the issue of illicit drugs in the AFL.
