Free agent Brent Moloney has reportedly agreed to join Brisbane Lions on a two-year deal.

The former Melbourne midfielder will undergo a medical examination in Brisbane on Thursday, but will more than likely be given the green light to play for the Lions.

The switch is likely to be official by Friday.

The 28-year-old won the Demons' best and fairest in 2011 but struggled to retain a regular spot under new coach Mark Neeld, playing 15 games.

The in-and-under midfielder returns to Melbourne from holiday on Thursday and will immediately travel with his manager Bruce Kaider to Brisbane to meet with new coach Michael Voss.

Moloney grew up in Warrnambool where he forged strong friendships with current Lions players Jonathan Brown and Matt Maguire.
